Joe visits Slieve Gullion in
South Armagh where he meets with Hugh Murphy who talks in poetic terms of the
area and the stuff of legends. He attends a local cattle auction and speaks to
Oliver Loughran about the unique language of sounds, facial ticks and hand
movements buyers use.
Ian Humphreys meanwhile shows Joe how to select the best seeds from trees on the Chambré Estate. His colleague on the state, Martin Lawson, intrigues children with tales of folklore associated with the trees. Joe finishes his visit at Lislea parish hall where he speaks to Liam Hannaway about rural drama, a great tradition in the area, while also taking part in a local dance.
