Pomeroy is small but the highest village in Ulster, located in County Tyrone. It sits atop a large hill that dominates the surrounding countryside and is surrounded by the Pomeroy Hills. The panoramic view from the hills shows a great stretch of Ulster from the Mournes, Sperrins to the Slemish Mountain and a lot more. It is undeniably the closest settlement to the geographical centre of Ulster.
Joe Mahon takes a trip around Pomeroy and visits local residents. At a local forestry school, the experts try to teach a thing or two about their work as Joe struggles to climb a tree. We also get a chance to have a look at a chainsaw collection, a great testimony to the progress of technology.
