Description

Joe Mahon ventures out to explore the steep road of  County Tyrone. Climbing up the hills is certainly rewarding in this area, especially if you get to enjoy the views over the Glenelly Valley. Glenelly lies within the Sperrin Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is the longest valley in the Sperrin Mountains.

The valley is deep, steep and ten miles long and woven with mysterious little roads which meander up the mountain side until they get lost in the bog. Joe Mahon takes in the natural beauty of the area as he continues his journey and meets the locals as that’s the best way to get to know the place. Along the way, he learns about the ancient tradition of distinctive names, meets a shepherd who can’t whistle and also visits the nearby town of Plumbridge.
