This film shows many of the important dignitaries arriving at the Grand Central Hotel in Belfast’s Royal Avenue for a celebratory lunch marking the launch day of Ulster Television. Guests such as Northern Ireland Governor, Lord Wakehurst, and the Prime Minister of Northern Ireland, Lord Brookeborough, are shown arriving with their wives and speaking inside. Sadly, the sound of the film has been lost but it is presented here for its historical importance and a second film of the event, one which still has sound, is also available to watch on the Digital Film Archive.
