Description

UTV reporter Charlie Witherspoon investigates the notion of owning an island on a trip to Lower Lough Erne in Co Fermanagh. There he speaks to Mrs Kosh, the wife of Commander Kosh who owned the island but who was too ill to speak when the cameras visited. He had bought the island in the 1950s after landing on its abandoned shoreline in the 1950s while fishing and falling in love with the place. Later he would open the first tourist chalet on the island, an early step to it becoming the major tourist location it is today. Back in 1964, his wife told Charlie all about her surprise at finding she was moving from London, where she worked, to an island in Northern Ireland.
