Description

Welcome to the second series of Make It Pay! General response in the first series of the programme goes to show there is indeed a lot of interest in the craft work in Northern Ireland.

First craft of this series uses glass as its main material. Stained glass windows in churches inspired this craft which is rapidly growing in popularity. Stephen Atkinson explains traditional stained glass techniques using copper strips, lead and soldering iron. Second craft of the day might appear quite unusual but is a very useful one. Fly tying, creating an artificial fly used by fly fishing anglers, is a craft requiring patience and a great deal of attention to detail. Peacock hurls, cock hackles, wing feathers, hare’s ear and hooks - all these come in useful when luring your perfect fish.

Todays’ guest, Kay Davidson, is interviewed in the studio by Maxine Mawhinney. Kay is a young and successful Scottish craft maker who specialises in quilted and patchwork accessories. Kay explains how she set up her business and got her craft work selling.
