Description

Video by Archie Reid. Maori people visiting Ballance House do a display of their music and dance.

Notes

Ballance House was the childhood home of John Ballance, who was the 14th Prime Minister of New Zealand. He was elected in 1891, and was seen as being liberal minded. 

His home has been restored by the Ulster - New Zealand Trust.  

Archie Reid was a History teacher and prolific film maker, you can find several of his gems on the Britain on Film map. This material is courtesy of Elizabeth Reid.
