Description

Oliver McGilloway present's McGilloway's Way, a programme which celebrates the dramatic and beautiful landscapes surrounding Ulster.

This episode is set by the tranquil waters of Lough Erne, County Fermanagh. McGilloway tells us how the local people say that the Upper Erne was "once the frozen substance of the Ice Age, but now it’s the life and blood of County Fermanagh". With scenes of swans and their young and swaying reeds and willows, this is the perfect place to escape and relax.

Join McGilloway on a boat ride and discover the history of the islands dotted about the lough... of which a few can disappear on occasion when water levels rise. Some of these islands are inhabited by wild goats who roam free - and look startled to see McGilloway on their land!

Notes

Oliver, or Olly McGilloway as he was widely known as, was the presenter of McGilloway's Way and was produced by Joe Mahon. The series was unexpectedly cut short due to McGilloway's untimely death in 1994. The programme was relaunched as Lesser Spotted Ulster with Joe Mahon as presenter and continues to be broadcasted today.
