Description

Oliver McGilloway present's McGilloway's Way, a programme which celebrates the dramatic and beautiful landscapes surrounding Ulster.

This episode is set in the Sperrin Mountains, a place with sometimes wild weather and an abundance of wildlife and plant life. McGilloway begins exploring the moorlands, where "farmers seek out a living and shooting men spend most of their time", as he ventures across the moor, spot goats and the farmers dogs! We meet the goats again as a farmer explains their uses, from their milk for lambs and also their fleece. Next up is the sheep and the collies which keep them in line, though with much training as we soon find out!

Ending the programme McGilloway follows a bird to its nest and explains the process from egg to fledging, to then adults soaring the sky hunting.

Notes

Oliver, or Olly McGilloway as he was widely known as, was the presenter of McGilloway's Way and was produced by Joe Mahon.  The series was unexpectedly cut short due to McGilloway's untimely death in 1994. The programme was relaunched as Lesser Spotted Ulster with Joe Mahon as presenter and continues to be broadcast today.
