Description

Raymond Maxwell explores the topic of homeopathic medicines.

A range of experts share their opinions on what are often deemed unorthodox medical practices. These interviews are followed by a panel discussion.

Beginning with Dr Ann Glover (Homeopathic Physician, the Royal London Homoeopathic Hospital), who explains the different types of therapy that can be provided. She also suggests that "complimentary", rather than alternative medicine" is a more apt description of the treatments they provide - the hospital makes no claim that such treatments will be the only line of therapy needed.

Robert Boyd (osteopath) believes in the spiritual life force of the body and treats the patient in holistic terms. However, Dr Anthony Campbell (acupuncturist) grounds his approach in science and orthodox ideas of biology. He describes some of the types of acupuncture he provides.

Col.K.L.Barraclough (Secretary, Royal Homeopathic Trust), suggests that young doctors are becoming disillusioned with traditional medicine. He also believes that the public should be made aware of, and provided information on, complimentary treatments.

James Crawford (Director, Nelson and Co.Ltd. Homeopathic Manufacturers) explains how they use plants to make homeopathic medicines. Audrey Ulbricht (Homeopathic Pharmacist) demonstrates how to prepare such medicines. Samuel Barnett, describes how alternative treatments have helped him with chronic pain.

Panel discussion, featuring Prof. Patrick D'Arcy, Prof. George Irwin, Dr. Kenneth Kerr and Dr. Gabriel Scally. Each introduces their area of expertise and considers under what circumstances they would be willing to use homeopathic treatments on a patient.
