Description

Make your own story from the absurd antics of Mr Slattery, conceived by the mischievous minds of the Arc Film Unit, illustrated by Rowel Friers.

Create your own narrative to this silent story of rural hijinks. These are only the rushes of what promises to be a wry take on local life that demonstrates the playful insights of Archie Reid, Rex Thompson, Craig Clements and Rowel Friers. Friers who illustrated this film was a political cartoonist, performer and painter. He strove to reflect political absurdities of Northern Ireland with impartiality saying ‘I have no side in all of this. I just make fun of all the madness.’

Notes

Friers was a graduate of the Belfast College of Art who contributed to the arts throughout his life as President of both the RUA and Ulster Association of Drama Festivals. Over the years Arc Films have invited us to laugh at ourselves in a series of brilliant amateur films made across Northern Ireland. You can find more gems on the Britain on Film map with contributions by Archie Reid, Rex Thompson, Craig Clements and Rowel Friers. This film is courtesy of Mrs Reid, Mrs Friers and J.J. Tohill.
