Description

Ivan Little reports for Good Evening Ulster on the hobby of miniature, passenger-carrying steam railways. We see pensioner Tom Kennedy being transported on an elevated track by a tiny steam engine with his legs either side of the track. He is one of 75 enthusiasts in Northern Ireland's Model Engineer's Society.

Among the many miniature items they tend to is a series of model railways at the Transport Museum in Cultra. Ivan then takes a trip on a larger gauge engine which runs on tracks laid in the ground and which has much increased hauling power. Ivan also talks to Tom in his workshop about the attraction of model steam trains over the real thing.
