Description

Film made by Archie Reid, on the History of Mossley Mill. The flax mill had been in use since the 19th Century until its closure in 1995. Footage shows machinery being removed from the mill. Lizzie, Teeny and Nellie who used to work in the mill recount their memories. Building was restored for use as a civic centre by the Newtownabbey Borough Council.

Notes

Mossley Mill was originally a flax mill, which started operation in 1834. It was bought by the Campbell family in 1859. The former mill was bought by the Newtownabbey Borough Council in 1996. It now houses a civic centre, council offices and a theatre.
