Description

Brian Black investigates the decline of the Irish barn owl and meets individuals who are keen for its survival.

With scenic shots of the majestic birds taking flight in a forest, barn owls are described as "secretive, intelligent birds that have depended on man for shelter and food but has shunned his company". As such, often the only time humans are in close contact with the creature, is when they're injured. Vet, Carson Archibald, introduces Black to one he is treating, which unfortunately due to damage to its foot, will have to stay in captivity to survive

Cliff Dawson, utilises his free time to search known locations for evidence of barn owls, but the lack of habitation is depressing news. However, south of the border, it is a different story with Kevin Collins sharing his knowledge of barn owls which has came from living in close proximity to several. Still though, he stresses the need for an all Ireland survey to do be, to fully know the extent of the problem.
