Description

Work begins on the new branch of the Bank of Ireland in Donegall Place. This would be the bank’s largest premises and the central office for the business until its closure in the 1990s. Next to it would be the new Marks Spencers in time and the two were connected by tubes that allowed the money taken from Marksies to be counted and lodged in the bank.
