Description

The Belfast built Southern Cross came back to the place of its construction for an overhaul. While back in Belfast, it also took part in the ceremony in this film clip. It was traditional for the Commodores of the Shaw Savill Line to be presented with the same silver salver which was passed down from one to the next. With Southern Cross taking up a position as the flagship of the line it was now passed to Captain L J Hopkins who was taking over as the new Commodore.
