A film looking at the endeavours of the Northern Ireland power-sharing executive of 1974. Examines societal issues - such as housing, economic growth and employment – and the obstacles to peace.
Presented by Mervyn Jess and featuring interviews with a number of key political figures of the time such as Brian Faulkner (Unionist Party), Bob Cooper (Alliance Party) and Gerry Fitt (SDLP).
Others interviewed include Dr Iris Agnew, Alban McGinnis (then a law student), Major Terry Dutton (British Army), the Derry Housing Executive, Lester Morton (American businessman) and a manager at DuPont’s chemical plant in Derry.
The film also features vox-pops with members of the public and various shots of soldiers on patrol, armoured cars, barbed wire, peace lines, barricades, boarded-up houses, army posts.
