An Ulster Television preview of the 1966/67 British Championship match between Northern Ireland and England with England playing their first match since being crowned World Champions during the summer. The Northern Ireland team are shown training in Newtownards with Bertie Peacock overseeing the session with players such as George Best, Pat Jennings, Martin Harvey, Billy McCullough and Alex Elder.
There are also some brief shots of English games featuring Northern Irish players such as Johnny Crossan playing for Man City against Newcastle United, the exterior of Sunderland’s Roker Park and a training session inside Brighton and Hove Albion’s ground. The cameras were there to follow ex-Arsenal player, Jimmy Magill, then playing for the south coast club. In the event, injury forced him out of the England game. Northern Ireland manager Bertie Peacock is interviewed, as is his opposite number from England, Alf Ramsey.
Some brief training shots of the English World Cup winners such as Bobby and Jack Charlton, Geoff Hurst, Nobby Styles and Gordon Banks can also be viewed.
