Beyond the ancient Celtic Ring of Gullion, at the forefront of the border with the Republic of Ireland, lies a small but proud town steeped in archaeological history and tradition called Crossmaglen. Journey through the Black Pig's Dyke, a natural border that would be both the cause and protector of conflict, along the way take time to explore the old market fair.
Recalled by some locals to be one of the largest of its kind in Europe, the Crossmaglen Fair has seen many characters from smugglers to poets. However, its two staples are the horses that have served the surrounding land and the famous Crossmaglen Guinea Hunters, with their smooth-talking mannerisms, always looking to make a guinea or two off an unsuspecting market goer!
There is certainly more to this small town than what meets the eye, why not see for yourself?
