Description

This slice-of-life video shows a busy morning in a Belfast Fire Station. A man sprints into a phone box on the Antrim Road to call for help. The emergency operator dispatches the firefighters to the man's house. This appears to be a fire safety video created by UTV. In the late 1980s, UTV regularly reported on fire safety awareness campaigns, such as combating chip pan fires. Perhaps this video was created to demonstrate the correct procedure for reporting a fire. Nowadays, the video provides some great footage of 1980s era switchboards and phoneboxes - relics of a bygone age.
