Description

 A film by Samuel Bracegirdle, showing the election in May 1962.

Shows clipping from the Belfast Newsletter – Election Campaign in Full Swing, May.

We see posters for Eddie McAteer, nationalist politician, and  ‘Together against Unionism’ – Harry Diamond of the Republican Labour Party.

We see the candidates: John Joseph Brennan, Independent Labour Group, William S Hinds and Ivan Neill, the Unionist candidates.

William Hinds held the seat in WIllowfield for the Unionists.. 

Notes

Samuel Bracegirdle was an amateur filmmaker from Belfast, his work dates from the 1950s to the 1970s. Many of his films show his home life and holidays with family and friends. He also took an interest in local history and Unionist heritage.
