It’s time, once again, for the Rose of Tralee competition. The Australian Roses have arrived in Belfast and meet Therese Gillespie, the Ulster Rose. Therese would go on to win the competition.
The Rose of Tralee is an annual competition held in Kerry. The organisers are keen to stress it is not a beauty pageant but contestants must be under 29 and unmarried. Single mothers were only admitted in 2008. The winner is selected on the basis of personality and is expected to be a good role-model for the festival and ambassador for Ireland during her travels around the world.
An Ulster Television Production.
