A report by Ernest Strathdee on the immediate prospects for Belfast’s biggest employer – the Harland and Wolff shipyard, which had recently been laying off some of its workforce. Workers and ex-workers are interviewed on their confidence on the yard bouncing back while Strathdee reports from slipways growing over with grass. Also on hand to give their views are Robert Hurndall from one of the shipbuilding unions and Dr Denis Rebbeck, Vice-Chairman of Harland and Wolff at the time.
