Professor Huxley talks to Maurice Smyth on the decision of Belfast Council to lock playgrounds on Sundays and his group’s protest against it.
Professor Huxley was a professor of Greek at Queen’s University. He wants everyone to be as happy as the ancient Greeks.
In 1964, Belfast City Council passed legislation to lock parks on Sundays as a way of protecting Sundays as a day of rest. This legislation was rescinded in Belfast in 1965 but continued elsewhere in Northern Ireland for some years.
An Ulster Television Production.
