Description

This UTV newsreel footage shows Queen Elizabeth II on her 1966 visit to Northern Ireland. While she and the Duke of Edinburgh carried out a wide range of official engagements over three days, the primary reason of the visit was to officially open the brand new bridge over the River Lagan which had been named after her. She and the Duke can be seen arriving by car and then taking a stroll across the bridge after the ribbon cutting ceremony with lots of pomp and pageantry on show.
