Description

Excellent footage for all old railway enthusiasts in Ireland. This is a report by UTV’s Charlie Witherspoon on the setting up of the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland who were enjoying a trip on a restored steam locomotive and carriages as it journeyed through stations like Portadown and Moira and over the border and through Drogheda.

Charlie reports from stops along the way such as Ardee in Co Louth and Kingscourt in Co Cavan. He speaks to one lady who has travelled over from Sussex with her husband specially for the outing and to Drew Donaldson who believes that people interested in trains are set apart from other folks and that it is something glandular with them!

Also included in this clip are all the silent rushes from various points on the journey.
