Reclaim the Night is a women's march founded in Leeds in 1977 which spread around the UK. The purpose of the march is for women to "reclaim the night" from perpetrators of sexual violence and harassment.
Reclaim the Night Belfast march to show the need for action against gender based violence and harassment and to aid mutual support: "We march to demand our right to be free from the fear and reality of rape, street harassment, stalking and all other gender violence that can affect anyone, with women and members of the LGBTQ community particularly impacted
People of all genders and ages are welcome to join the march. We encourage people to bring a torch, candle (in a safe holder), or something that lights up to carry. Banners and placards are also welcome."
