Description

Fearghal McKinney delivers this report for UTV Live on the day that the IRA enters into a fresh ceasefire, as a range of local politicians give their opinion on its bearing on the peace process.

Mitchell McLaughlin of Sinn Fein, Mark Durkin of the SDLP, Ken Maginnis of the UUP, Peter Robinson of the DUP, Gary McMichael of the UDP and David Ervine of the PUP are all interviewed, and give the customary range of opinion from cautious welcome to outright suspicion. However, there can be no denying the enormity of the announcement: the flagging peace process has been given a much-needed momentum boost.
