Sir Albert Kennedy, K.P.M. Inspector General January 1961 - January 1969
Sir Albert was born in Belfast in 1906, the son of a Detective Sergeant in the RIC/RUC. He joined the RUC as a constable in 1924, having previously served briefly in the USC. He progressed rapidly within the force and became a District Inspector in 1936. Further promotions followed to County Inspector in 1951 and to Deputy Inspector General 6 years later.
In January 1961 Sir Albert succeeded Sir Richard Pim and was appointed Inspector General. He was the third holder of the office and the first to rise through the ranks.
