‘Ronnie’s Video is a mixed-media animation that stylistically is inspired by the cut out animation style that I loved in my 1970’s childhood, specifically Mr.Benn, Crystal Tipps & Alister and especially Terry Gilliam’s surreal work for Monty Python on TV which had a tremendous impact on me growing up.
The story is rooted in my own experience of the home video rental phenomenon of the 1980’s and thematically the piece reflects on the difficult feelings of adolescence in an irrational, sometimes threatening twentieth century reality. A.I. was used to manipulate some voices and generate a few visual elements.’
