This charming home movie by Sam Bell is bursting with the joys of childhood. After playing the garden we are transported to a bustling lunch break at Belfast Zoo. These school trips are a familiar feature of many Belfast childhoods and might trigger memories of tired legs traipsing round the steep slopes to look for animals hiding from the rain. Then finally return to the back garden for sunbathing and an obstacle course with friends.
Bellevue gardens, known as Belfast Zoo opened in 1934, it is now part of a breeding program for endangered species and a ‘retirement home’ for elderly elephants.
