This is a film about the tradition of Drontheim building along our coast, told through the memories of those who built, worked or sailed them, and how a vessel which originally transported traders and invaders to our shores was repurposed over the centuries to become the Tractor of The Sea… That’ll teach ‘em.
Sea Bound depicts Northern Ireland North Coast maritime heritage traditions as a rich living heritage. The film documents and celebrates the distinctive boatbuilding traditions of the Causeway Coast through archival resources and oral history interviews. It includes archive footage of the Drontheim traditional yawl from the North Coast of Northern Ireland along with key people that have been involved in building the boats and protecting their heritage.
Causeway Coast Maritime Heritage Group hope Sea Bound will help to share this historical information at a national and international level. The film is also intended to promote the work of Causeway Coast Maritime Heritage Group and other traditional boats enthusiasts in preserving these traditions and keeping them alive
