Description

Sir George Clarke, Grand Master of the Orange Order speaks at a dinner on the ongoing question of so-called Orange/Green talks. It took place at the half yearly meeting of the Institution at the Orange Hall on Sandy Row, Belfast. Clarke refers to his informal talks with his fellow Northern Ireland Senator James Lennon who was Vice President of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. It had been hoped that talks between the two institutions would lead to better understanding between the two communities in general. However, the talks never really got beyond the point of “talks about talks” and the initiative soon floundered.
