Description

You might have seen Charlotte Anderson before. She was featured in the video Meet Charlotte Anderson, also on BFI Replay. UTV caught up with her again two years after the previous report.

Anderson lost her hearing due to a severe meningitis infection. However, due to her drive and dedication she reintegrated and excelled at school. She learned to lipread and communicate with her friends. In this report she discusses the difficulties she faced when she lost her hearing.

When she was in the fifth year, Charlotte received a new operation to implant a cochlear hearing aid. It restored some of her hearing. Anderson suddenly found she could go back to the cinema and go out with friends without feeling anxiety about not understanding what people said to her. The report also features interviews with the surgeon, Richard Ramsden, and the principal of Hunterhouse College.
