Description

Charlie Witherspoon straddles the border in Fermanagh to meet the McMahon brothers who are traditional spademakers. One of the brothers, Ibor,  talks Charlie through the whole process. There are many different patterns, each area of Ireland having its own design. Is this the origin of ‘having a face like a Lurgan spade’? Great images of the foundry in action.

An Ulster Television Production.
