Description

Venture round Northern Ireland and follow the footsteps of the tempestuous Saint Columba while the country celebrates his life. Discover through colourful pageants about the man who despite being a dove by name was plagued with a violent temper which led to his eventual self-exile from Ireland. Join hundreds of pilgrims and follow in the wake of a Church of Ireland curragh as it makes its commemorative voyage to Iona 14 centuries after Columba’s 563AD journey.

Notes

This film by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board comes courtesy of Robert Blair from the collection of National Museums Northern Ireland. Watch ‘Curragh to Iona’ on the DFA player and experience this same commemorative voyage as one of the crew.
