Having emigrated from Newry to Chicago in the USA, a family holiday to Disneyworld in Florida provided the incentive for machine operator, Edward Mallon, to buy a Kodak Super 8 Cine camera to keep a record of his time out there. This included filming one of Elvis Presley’s last concert performances and Edward kept up his hobby when his family subsequently returned to Northern Ireland to take up permanent residence again, often watching his movies with family and friends. Edward still occasionally watches these movies today along with others he has belonging to his uncle “who lived in New York and which show the ships he travelled on”. His favourites, however, are his own which grant him the opportunity of “seeing our sons when they were little and also, of course, seeing Elvis Presley live in Chicago”.
