Description

Chief Whip, James Chichester-Clark reads a statement on establishing a more harmonious relationship between the Unionist party and the trade unions. William McGookin then talks to JH Binks, JP and Trade Unionist on whether talks will succeed or not.

Trade unionism began to grow as a movement in Northern Ireland after World War 2. In the 1960s, increasing industrial action and worker discontent lead to the trade unionists becoming a real political force.
