Bill Smyth interviews a Miss Stewart, an English language teacher, about her role in teaching English as a foreign language to the young children of those who have arrived in Northern Ireland from India. She is very complimentary about their abilities and suggests that they are picking up English quicker than she would have picked up a language like French at a similar age. Smyth also interviews the young children about their lessons and their lives in Northern Ireland. This was at a time when immigration to Northern Ireland was still seen as unusual enough to run a story like this.
