Description

UTV roving reporter Charlie Witherspoon takes viewers on a tour of Textile Testing House in Belfast’s Ormeau Avenue. He watches as various kinds of textiles are put through a programme of testing such as seatbelts tested for the pressure at which they break and carpets tested for wear and tear. Other tests are for washability and flammability while one machine is able to replicate the effect of months of sunlight on a fabric within just a few days. Charlie even has a little puzzle for them as he gets them to test some sheets which he has deliberately spilled substances on.
