Description

Stormont Agriculture Minister Harry West and his Irish equivalent, Charles Haughey, visit the Ballymena Show. There’s plenty going on with everything from cattle to Pekingese dogs on show. Maurice Smyth and Ernest McMillan report on the 62nd show. Ernest meets Jack Bamber who has been coming to the show for 43 years. Mr Bamber says it is harder to get a high-class half-bred hose as all the farmers have turned to tractors. Maurice meets Sean Kyle, the third generation of his family to organise the show. Mr Fleming talks to Ernest about his machines, on display here. Finally, Maurice talks to PM Terence O’Neill.
