Description

Derry tenor Josef Locke’s wife arrives at the NSPCC in Belfast. Mrs Elizabeth McLaughlin has arrived from California to collect her 13 yr-old-son who had run away from his father’s home in Wicklow. The letter she is reading is from her estranged husband, giving permission for their son to return to the USA with his mother.

Notes

Josef Locke (Joseph McLaughlin) was an internationally famous tenor singer, born in Creggan in Derry. He led a colourful life somewhat fictionalised in the film, Hear My Song.
