Description

Lt Gen Anderson inspects the Dragoon Guards at Lisanelly Camp in Omagh before they set off to Singapore for a tour of duty.

Notes

Singapore was a British colony from 1824 to 1963 when it merged with Malaysia. During WWII and the Battle of Singapore, the Japanese seized control of the state. After the destruction and death caused by this battle, Singapore’s connection with Britian weakened and independence was grated in 1963. Singapore joined with Malaysia for a while but it became independent as the Republic of Singapore on 9 August 1965.
