The funeral takes place of John Scullion from Ardoyne. Mr Scullion died two weeks after he was allegedly stabbed near his home in Oranmore Street. It was later to emerge that in fact Mr Scullion had been shot by the Ulster Volunteer Force. He is recognised as the first victim of the Northern Ireland conflict. Local residents claimed a bullet casing was handed to the police but it was not until John’s body was exhumed that it was found he had been shot. 

The film shows the area around the Springfield Road, Oranmore St and  the scene of John’s murder. John’s elderly father enters Clonard Monastery for his funeral and the police gather at the family home to investigate.
