Description

Film by Archie Reid, encouraging people to visit Ballance House in Glenavy.

It was once the home of John Ballance, who became Prime Minister of New Zealand in 1891. He was liberal minded. His second wife encouraged him to campaign for votes for women, and New Zealand became the first country in the world to have universal suffrage.

The farmhouse he lived in was restored by the Ulster – New Zealand Trust.
