Description

Get ready to dust off the cobwebs and dance the monster mash with The John Anderson Big Band!

The Big Band perform a medley of iconic tunes from Glenn Miller's In the Mood to Brian Fahey's At the Sound of the Swinging Cymbal. Anderson's band had a mini hit with their version of In the Mood and their Glenn Miller Medley in 1985.

Derry has also become famous for its huge annual Halloween celebrations. Consistently attracting thousands upon thousands of visitors, Derry hosts Europe's biggest Halloween celebration. The story goes that, back in the 1980s during The Troubles, patrons of a city-centre pub decided to dress up for fun. A bomb scare forced them out of the bar onto the street. They found another bar to continue their celebrations. The next year, half of the city turned up in fancy dress. The city council got in on the action and put on fireworks displays and concerts. This video shows an early example of what would go on to become the city's annual cultural highlight!
