Description

The last passenger-carrying Derry to Glasgow boat leaves from Derry Docks. The travellers include a newly-married couple, James and Olive Campbell from Culdaff, who were going to Edinburgh on their honeymoon. The Lairds Loch, known locally as the Scotch Boat, operated this service from 1944 and ran three times a week although the service itself had been operating for about 140 years. It then moved to a Dublin service before returning as a cargo-only boat until 1968.
