Description

This short video captures LGBTQIA+ activists response to a rally by British anti-transgender activist Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull (Posie Parker) in April 2023. The activists, united in support of transgender rights, cross the Lagan Weir Footbridge near Belfast’s Custom House Square. With a banner displaying a message of solidarity for the transgender community and accompanied by the energetic anthem 'Spice Up Your Life' by the Spice Girls, the protest conveys both defiance and celebration, to challenge the narratives promoted by the rally and affirm the rights of LGBTQIA+ individuals. This act of protest reflects a broader movement to counter exclusionary rhetoric with messages of love and support for the trans community.

BeU is a support group hosted by The Rainbow Project, which offers help and guidance to trans, non-binary, and intersex individuals. The Rainbow Project, established in 1994, is a health organization committed to improving the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of the LGBTQIA+ community in Northern Ireland.
