Description

The Rainbow Project is a leading organisation dedicated to improving the physical, mental, and emotional health and well-being of LGBTQIA+ individuals and their families across Northern Ireland. Established in 1994, the Rainbow Project has been a cornerstone of advocacy and support for the LGBTQIA+ community for nearly three decades. Its mission encompasses providing vital services, fostering inclusivity, and campaigning for equal rights and recognition within Northern Ireland.

This video provides a detailed introduction to the Rainbow Project, its objectives, and the dedicated individuals behind its work. Among those interviewed are John O’Doherty, the former director of the Rainbow Project, whose leadership was instrumental in shaping the organisation’s advocacy efforts, and Leo Lardie, the Sexual Health Development Officer. Leo leads the BeU group, which offers a safe and supportive monthly meet-up for trans, non-binary, and intersex individuals.

Through personal reflections and insightful commentary, the film explores the significance of the Rainbow Project’s work, the challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community in Northern Ireland, and the organisation’s continuing efforts to promote equality and well-being. This engaging piece serves as both an introduction to the Rainbow Project and a testament to its enduring impact on individuals and communities over the years.
