Description

In 1998, Tony Blair established an Inquiry into the events that occurred in Derry on the 30th January 1972. This day became known as Bloody Sunday. Thirteen people were shot dead and fifteen more injured when members of the British Army’s Parachute Regiment opened fire on civil rights demonstrators. The events occurred in the Bogside area of the city.

The Inquiry was chaired by judge Lord Saville. In 2010, the Inquiry published its findings. It found that none of the casualties were posing a threat or engaging in any activity that would justify their shooting.

This video shows reaction to the findings outside the location of the Inquiry, the city’s famous Guild Hall. There are interviews with victims’ relatives and activists from the ‘Set the Truth Free Campaign’. There is also some footage of Sinn Féin politicians Gerry Adams, Martin McGuinness, and Martina Anderson. The video ends with a shot of the exterior of the Tower Museum.
